How to Relax in Pigeon Forge

By Bob Foster of American Patriot Getaways

Vacation time is supposed to be a time to relax and get rid of the stress we collect on a daily basis at home—so why should your trip to Tennessee’s Pigeon Forge be anything different? Enjoy your vacation to the fullest—follow these tips for a full day in Pigeon Forge that will leave you feeling rested and rejuvenated!

Begin your day with a leisurely breakfast, available at any number of local restaurants. You can choose between popular chains like Shoney’s or Cracker Barrel or local favorites the Log Cabin Pancake House or the Old Mill Restaurant. You’ll find everything from diner-style eggs and bacon to upscale coffee and pastries.

Next, do some shopping for treasures you’ll use to remember your time in Pigeon Forge. The town offers a wide variety of options, from larger factory outlets to small boutiques offering the work of local artists. Bell Tower Square, a popular tourist destination, is the largest year-round Christmas Village in the United States.

Follow up your shopping with lunch at one of Pigeon Forge’s traditional, Southern restaurants. This can mean anything from barbeque to fried chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy—regardless of what you order, it is sure to be delicious. Choose from Huck Finn’s Catfish, Bennett’s Pit Bar-B-Que or the Alamo Steakhouse.

The afternoon offers a number of different options. Visit the local Elvis Museum to spend some time with one of Tennessee’s most famous residents. Or, explore the Great Smoky Mountains in a helicopter ride, hovering over some of the region’s highest peaks. If relaxation is still out of reach, check out Utopia Day Spa in nearby Sevierville for their great outdoor nature massage.

Hang out with a local hero at The Dixie Stampede, Dolly Parton’s dinner theater. Dolly Parton is While Dolly might not be there, the live music, animals, performers and four-course meal will give you a real taste of her exciting life. Located just outside Dollywood in Dolly’s hometown of Pigeon Forge, this tremendous show boasts 32 horses, live buffalo and dozens of cast members, all housed in an arena that seats 1,000. If you are lucky, you might be picked to be in the show!

Now, head back to your amazing and luxurious cabin in Pigeon Forge for a wonderful night’s sleep. You’re sure to be tired after such a full day, but you will fall into bed without stress. This is a welcome respite from normal nights, when you lie down at the end of your day completely exhausted and drained from the day. Rest up, because there is only more Pigeon Forge for you to explore tomorrow!

When you come to Pigeon Forge, you’ll be able to relax and still get the most out of your vacation. You’ll be glad you did.

Born and raised in the Smoky Mountain region, Bob Foster became a passionate expert on this part of the country even as a child. Years later Bob turned that childhood passion and expertise into a profession when Bob became a general manager for the family business that specializes in rentals of Gatlinburg cabins and Pigeon Forge cabins, both towns being in the heart of the Smokies. The company motto is "Creating guests for life by offering an experience of a lifetime" and it is with that thought in mind that Bob started a blog fully dedicated to information about the Smokies, which can be found at blog.patriotgetaways.com.
